In Mount Wutai, Wuye is not only the god of wealth, but also the guardian god, protecting the safety of the people and pilgrims in Mount Wutai.
The symbolic meaning of Wuye is far-reaching. He represents faith, efficacy and hope. On Mount Wutai, although the statue of Wuye cannot speak, every word must come true. His efficacy and the prosperity of incense are known to everyone. In Chinese Buddhist culture, the image of Wuye has both the compassion of Buddhist gods and the majesty of Taoist immortals, and has become a spiritual guardian in people’s lives. Every year on the fifth day of the fourth lunar month, which is Wuye’s birthday, believers will go to the Wuye Temple to worship and express their gratitude to Wuye.
